Watercolor painting - Flowers for Mom

This week in art class we made a watercolor painting. These are the steps that we followed:
1. On one sheet of watercolor paper we painted flowers - no stems or leaves - using two analogous colors (colors next to each other on the color wheel - i.e. red & orange or blue & purple). Reminded student to use plenty of water and watch what the paint does in the water when adding color. Paint several flowers and allow to dry.
2. On the second sheet of watercolor paper 11x11 they painted with different shades of green to create a foliage/leaf type background. Allowed for experimentation and creativity. 
3. When both papers are dry, cut out flower shapes and glue to "foliage" paper. Paint simple stems and leaves with dark green if desired. 
Be sure to sign your art and maybe even write a note on the back for Mother's Day!
