Colorful Castles - inspired by Rob Dunlavey

Before I teach my art classes each week I love to browse the many wonderful blogs of other artists and art teachers who share their creative ideas. This weeks art project was inspired by Zamorano Arts blog. From there I discovered the amazing work of Rob Dunlavey. If you aren't familiar with his work, you should check it out! Anyway, the pictures above are a sample of Rob Dunlavey's work and below that is what six of my art students came up with. We talked about cool colors and warm colors and practiced seeing different geometric shapes. We talked about breaking our art down into simple shapes and just having fun with it.
